This evening we went to another concert at la Madeleine. It was an orchestra and chorus from, we think, Brittany. They did several of our favorite pieces, Vivaldi Gloria and Handel's Coronation Anthems. They did a nice job, but as we have said before la Madeleine is not a good space for choral music. The space is so big that the singing sounds mushy. Also, the enunciation of the singers was not clear, even though we knew the words of both pieces. Still, it was a pleasant evening. We had omelets in a small café just off the boulevard de Capucines which is the street that leads up to the church. Here are a few shots of the church interior and its organ. After that, a view of the place de la Concorde and the oblique takes from the church steps.
